East Bergholt
Is in the heart of Dedham Vale, on the Suffolk | Essex border, an area of outstanding natural beauty, National Trust, and The Flatford Mill Estate and birthplace of the renowned painter John Constable.
With a host of pubs and independent shops and restaurants locally, some within walking distance, the lodges in East Bergholt are an idea base to explore Suffolk and the coast.
Manningtree station, just a 10 minute drive and only 1 hour from London Liverpool Street if you wish to travel by train, or use as a mode of transport to travel into London and further afield to Norwich perhaps.
More
The former East Bergholt Common and village was John Constables inspiration throughout his life with many of his iconic paintings of views remain unchanged today. The15th century Bell cage of St Marys Church and over 100 listed buildings give the village real character and charm, and Flatford Mill now a National Trust visitors centre alongside the RSPB adds to delight of our location.
The lodges are surrounded by numerous countryside walks, around the old village common, across the vale to the village of Dedham and beyond, or along the marshes of the River Stour to Manningtree. There is also an 88 hectare site of Special Interest managed by the RSPB, its wetland of international importance and part of the Stour and Orwell Special Protection area and AONB where you will see waders and wildfowl in abundance.
